Synopsis

The Donald Glover Presents project is a series of short films starring Donald Glover and Academy Award-Winning actress comedian, Mo’Nique, to launch a collaborative sneaker line with Adidas Originals. The campaign consists of five short films—titled Timber, 1985, Avocado, Polenta, and Dusty—directed by Ibra Ake, written by Sam Jay and Jamal Olori, and produced by Mamag & Glover's creative collective Royalty. The films open in media res (in the middle of the story) with zero traditional exposition or explanation of Donald and Mo'Nique's relationship. The vignettes serve as conceptual commercials for Glover's re-imagined classic Adidas sneaker designs—the Nizza, Continental 80, and Lacombe. The shoes, co-designed by Lennard Macarena, feature an intentionally distressed, worn-in canvas look with raw, frayed edges, and a moth logo (the symbol of the collaboration), designed to show more "story" and personality the longer you wear them.
